Stephen and Chris are in completely different places in life, both with distinct backgrounds - Why are they working together?
Stephen is a former NCAA Division I collegiate golfer at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Post-graduation, as his peers moved towards entry level college coaching positions, Stephen identified a need for support and guidance as Canadian athletes contemplated how to understand and navigate the daunting task of US collegiate recruitment. Stephen came home to Canada to encourage and assist those that would aspire to follow his footsteps. With first-hand experience, Stephen provides an expert opinion on the real potential of each Bytown prospective student athlete client. He is a definitive source for Junior Golf in Canada.
Stephen has extensive experience with Canadian Junior Golf, Junior College Golf and the NCAA. He has successfully worked with 25+ families, providing personal attention and guiding them throughout the college recruitment process. These clients have earned themselves more than $1 million in scholarship support. Stephen regularly interacts with both players and coaches providing optimism and realistic feedback, on the path to finding a place in the competitive field of collegiate golf.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and competing in NCAA Division 1 golf on scholarship, Stephen played professional golf for 5 years between 2005-2010. In 2012, he started Bytown Sports Consulting, a college placement service for aspiring college athletes
Stephen is married and a very busy father with three children ages 17, 14 and 4. He plays hockey and golf and enjoys the endless trips to the rink. Stephen is an entrepreneur, business owner and former professional athlete. He also manages a General Contracting business which he has owned since 2013 which specializes in commercial office fit-ups, residential renovations and investment properties.
My wife Sherry and I feel very lucky to have our two boys Jake and Jesse. They are both so different yet such wonderful young men. They are both a bit older now than in this picture, one in High School, the other a college sophomore.
Our oldest son Jake chased the dream of a Golf scholarship from the time he was 9 years old. As you can imagine we learned a lot along the way yet getting the job done required some professional help.
Stephen opened new doors and provided guidance at the most critical point in our journey. It was easy to say yes when he asked me if I would join him in helping Canadian families following in our path.
